Cars are not used enough.#18129

I think one way to encourage players to use cars is to make it so you can codelock it and it takes x amount of explosives to blow the door off and the fuel tank cannot be accessed unless you have the code. I think the reason they are not used is because 1 death and its gone and doing all the work to collect the parts isnt worth to die and lose the car

I feel that once you travel fast, you are more visible and likely become a potential target.

Copters are powerful, because they are quick and you can escape up into the air. Over land the speed advantage is much more offset, the rider is a sitting duck. This is why while on horseback a player is given increased armor.

This means that any travel option:

  1. needs to provide adequate protection;
    and
  2. scales to the tier of weapons that are currently in play.

Good players with uncanny aim will wreck riders. Once guns get into play horses are done. Better guns and early explosions make cars obsolete.

Sure, you can buff cars, but maybe it is the flow of the game that needs tweaking elsewhere. Take into account that any server retaining blueprints after wipe will quickly make cars very risky to use, unless these vehicles are upgraded and highly armored.

You want cars to thrive as is? Allow for very tank-like automobiles, and spawn these modules and parts more frequently depending on the availability of higher tier weapons and blueprints at that point in the game.

If I gotta go on a scavenger hunt to get the car running can it at least be electric? Scrap the fuel requirement OR the 5 parts requirement to make them much more viable.
