Wire Tool - Extension Plug#18147

I’m a neat electrician (In Rust), so I like to hide my wires. This takes up attachment points, and also uses up a lot of wire length….

The Wire Tool can only reach so far and with so many clicks. Yet the size of some bases require us to use multiple eletrical objects such as eletrical branches, swicthes, etc to help us reach points that are simply too far for the wire tool to reach. This unnecessarily takes up units of power, and we’d quite wish we didn’t have to. But, we’ll sacrifice those units of power to reach where we need to of course. Or there’s the attempt to try and move the power source closer, or to make a new one, but sometimes, that can not always be the way.

So, how about either:

Be able to: Upgrade, or Craft the Wire Tool to a longer one. The benefit being double the reach, and double the Clickable Attachment Points.

Or preferably….

Add a Small Extension Plug - that would require 5 frags to craft. Takes up no extra power units when used. The small unit would be the same as “Joining two wires together with eletrical tape.”

So, when the maximum length of the wire tool has been reached, you’d get a choice to add an “extension plug” to reach further - but only if it’s in the inventory!
Would be great to be able to use perhaps up to 2 or 3 of these connections on a single line, and no more.

Wow!
That was a bit long… ….but as long as the wire tool I wish I could have!

Stay Rusty…
Thanks :)

This is amazing

Yes, This is very neccessary.

Another neat benefit of having couplers like this would be the ability to create improvised patch panels where connections terminate, and outputs are easily re-routed without going back up to your battery or solar panel.

Use XOR switches to extend lines in the mean time. They don’t consume power.

Memory cells don’t consume power either. But it would be nice to have a dedicated (and cheaper) deployable instead of mis-using mem cells and XORs.
