Private islands / Server migration#26815

The ability to host your own 1 grid server / island alongside server migration would resolve a lot of issues with rust being extremely unfriendly to casuals and players who play with time restrictions.

Being able to leave your private server to migrate to an official one to pvp / farm for the day / night and then return with a portion of your loot would allow solo players and small groups to invest the time into set up things like a base / farms without having to be concerned about being offline raided that same night by a group with 3x the players and available free time.

I understand some people will hate this because they won’t be able to gaurantee offline raiding a group for all their loot but that’s kind of the point and server migration is going to happen regardless.

I think a change like this will also help promote players to start doing online raids again if they have no certainty of success offlining a base that might be empty once the owners migrate away from that server.

There’s also always the option of opening up a bounty system later into the wipe cycle that will allow you to invade a players private island to try and raid them.

I dont see a way that this wouldn’t be abused to hell out by zergs and no lifers.

This sounds terrible, and is a major problem in other games that allow it.

This is the worst idea ever in rust history. Hey you know how risk and reward is the basis of your entire game, Well i have work on weekdays so if i can get a private island to hide in so noone can raid me thatd be nice.

it’s pretty obvious this idea was rejected so your comment is just rude and unnecessary. It worked for EFT so i’m not sure why the animosity so a suggestion.

In tarkov, the offline private servers will not allow progression of your tarkov character or give you the loot you scavenge, its just for allowing you to train with friends. Rust has pve servers and deathmatch servers you can join to train with friends already.

I know this is illrelevent because it’s already rejected and I disagree with the idea as well but i think the author is saying the you could host your own small island server that people could raid or shop from and join freely kinda like a island base but I think that it would be very annoying to raid (as you can see the base you wanna raid and would have to keep jumping in and out of servers it would also waste servers

Kinda liked this one, maybe even a massive map to try to find the private islands like mount n blade.
