ADS sensitivity option#5483

Rust is essentially an FPS game. The game is centered around first person PVP. Every FPS game needs basic sensitivity options. As of right now, Rust only has the option to change your hipfire sensitivity. Currently, the game has a set coefficient that changes your ADS sensitivity based on your hipfire sensitivity and the zoom level of the gun you’re using. (it even affects your sensitivity when throwing melee weapons because your FOV slightly zooms in when holding down right click). What I’m asking for is simply the ability to change that coefficient, or in other words, change my ADS sensitivity.

I’ve been saying this to everyone since I started this game. How is there no option for aiming? I have never played an FPS game where there is no dedicated option to adjust this. If I want to aim better, I won’t be able to run around, If I want to run around I won’t be able to aim.

As Helk said in The QoL Update - “I’m considering adding a bunch of sensitivity options to the game or atleast via config so that you can have finer control over what happens to your sensitivity when using different weapons”. So it is kind of planned but don’t hold your breath for this to happen anytime soon. It has also been suggested here before with a lot of upvotes.

@G doesn’t help when Helk hasn’t gone forward with it in almost 4 months, especially when it seems like one of the easiest damn things to do (I dunno, don’t question me for not knowing everything about Unity, but it shouldn’t be so damn hard to add different sensitivity intervals)

@Aidan Pritchett as I said, don’t hold your breath for this to happen anytime soon. Helk says a lot of things and most of the time it gets forgotten unless he does it right away.

How about we link this to all of our teammates and get this up voted so its #1 on the list. I mean most of my players are big into PVP and some have come from CSGO. I have dabbled with Unity and Game programming before and in my opinion this is one of the FIRST features you add to a game once you start running around and testing the guns.

For you folks: d, Christian Gaviria, G and everyone else who needs this.

You can do this now with a bind. But that is not per sight, and only for ads in general

Anyway here is the command :)

bind mouse1 “+attack2;+meta.if_true \”input.sensitivity 0.15\”;+meta.if_false \”input.sensitivity 0.25\””

When you zoom with right mouse button it will change your sensitivity to 0.15 and when you release the key it will change it back to 0.25

Change the sensitivity accordingly to your settings!

PS. You might need to change the (Quotation mark) with the actuall symbol because in https://nolt.io/ it gets changed to other unicode character. If you want a full copy-paste bin: https://pastebin.com/GDKBeeCS

I actually just found out about this and was about to post it here. This is a great fix, but sadly it still doesn’t help the fact that guns with different FOVs have weird scaling. So for example an ak can never be “1:1” with a thompson in the way that most games with different FOV weapons can.

How do you remove it

@George Crews You can just type..

bind mouse1 +attack2
