Expand the primitive part of rust#573

Adding more various, primitive weapons would be beneficial to rust and solo players.

Like a musket to help with range

Yeah like sling shots that can slow down players so they are forced to engage in a melee fight

ye, something that can shoot down long range, a bit like the blunderbuss in fortnite or have handmade slugs to be shot through a eoka

literally stuffing gunpowder and the closest rock nearby into the eoka

Okay, but people are still going to skip over the primitive stage at the same rate, why run around with a bow when you could have a revolver? or a crossbow?

that could be fixed with a sort of primitive plus type of version like ark

Basically like @PsychoticRunner said you gotta keep players locked on tier 1. Not forcing it with like timed progression but organically by just making it very hard to get to t2. Whether it’s because scrap is hard to find, guns are hard to find, or there’s just straight up no tech tree. You just need to prevent people from being able to get t2 instantly with very little competition.

I think the primary way to get a gun should have to be killing someone for it and finding it in the world should be very rare and it should not be tech treeable.

@Drahgon55 imagine only t1 weapons and ammo craftable. T2 and T3 weapons and ammo only findable. Day 1 of wipe you do cargo and get an ak with 36 bullets. Thats it, you got an ak with just over a mag. Soon as you use up that ammo, ak is useless. Would make that ak in a raid/raid defence so much for powerful, but need so much more calculations with eveything you do.

Could even move pistol ammo to t2 and make a shitty lvl 1 pistol ammo for revy

there are too reasons for very fast progression:

  1. tech tree, being able to research any item in the game without having to find it obviously makes it way easier to progress
  2. the simplicity of oil rig, you can get red card and take oil within 30min of wipe as a decently coordinated 3 man which guarantees you will have T3 weapons

Releasing loot gradually across time in the wipe would encourage more balanced and reward strategic play.

It would also make wipes last longer cause ppl wont rage quit when they die to ak on day 1
